Valeways is an independent registered charity

founded in 1996 with the aim of improving access to the Vale of Glamorgan's beautiful countryside. This is being achieved through redevelopment, maintenance and promotion of its extensive public rights of way network for the benefit of both residents and visitors. The operation depends on the organisation of groups of volunteers and involves close collaboration between walking enthusiasts, the Vale of Glamorgan Council and the farming community.

Since its inception Valeways has cleared many miles of neglected paths and installed stiles, waymark posts and bridges throughout the Vale providing local community networks and links between various towns and villages. Improvements have made possible a huge range of circular walks. Leaflets for some of these walks can be obtained from local tourist information centres or on request from Valeways. The Millennium Heritage Trail is a long distance route designed to give access to the best of the Vale's varied scenery (including the Glamorgan Heritage Coast) and historical sites. Conveniently the whole area is covered by the Ordnance Survey Explorer map 151.
