Come and (re-) discover the Vale of Glamorgan

The festival kicks off with a real gem:

Friday 31st May 2013, Start 10 a.m, Return approx. 2 p.m; 6.5 km; approx. 20 stiles

Valeways’ walk leader Tim Williams has teamed up with Dr Ffion Reynolds, Cadw’s Public Engagement and Welsh Language Manager.  They will take you not only on a delightful circular walk passing through St Nicholas and around St Lythans but also on a journey back through time.

We will start at the Horse & Jockey Pub in Twyn-yr-Odyn in plain view of the very modern Wenvoe Transmitter.  Making our way through green lanes and rolling fields, we catch a lovely view of the Garth and head for St Nicholas where we join the Millennium Heritage Trail towards Dyffryn Gardens.

Along the way we will take in the ancient burial chambers of Tinkinswood and St Lythans where Ffion will open a portal to travelling through time.  Drawing on her extensive knowledge and experience she will bring history to life with tales of ancient people, rituals, onsite archaeological excavations and recent community activities.

Let both Tim and Ffion enthuse you with the beauty and history of the Vale of Glamorgan on this walk.  Experience the wonderful views and gain interesting facts, lovely memories and new friends before returning to the Horse & Jockey Pub, for refreshments and a chat if you want…
